This Victorian Embroidery measures 11 inches wide by 11 ½ inches tall, which would equal over 32,000 stitches to complete this work. As you can see the colors are still strong and some steel beads were used to accent the dog collar, the clock on the wall, the lantern by the door and the edges of the upholstered chair. Most times 19th century embroideries such as these have a religious theme, but this Victorian Embroidery depicts a country family. The mother and baby are saying goodbye to the father with the family dogs and a young child at his feet. This embroidery comes in its original 18 by 18 ½ frame. The frame is in very good condition, however, it was painted gold sometime in the early 20th century. This antique embroidery is in perfect condition and comes under early handmade glass.
