Antique Victorian APC Bonte Gesso Wood Picture Frame Picture(s) and Description:

STARTING AT A LOW BID WITH NO RESERVE: For your consideration we are offering this antique oval picture frame. Featured is a decorative gesso wood frame manufactured by A.P.C. Bonte. Frame retains the manufacturer's paper label on reverse. Label shows: "A.P.C. Bonte - Manufacturer Of Frames And Looking Glasses - Cincinnati 149 Fourth St." From what I could gather in research, this was a high quality ornamental frame in it's day, dating from the Civil War era to 1885. Frame does have condition issues showing loss of gesso as you can see in the pics. The oval frame features four floral, leaf, & nut cartouche ornamentations. The inside border has a gold painted sawtooth design. The outside border shows a beaded floral design. Finish is a brushed dark brown. Reverse of frame is inletted to accept an 8" x 10" image. Outside dimensions of frame are 12" x 14". Inside dimensions are 7 1/2" x 9 1/2". This frame would make a very worth while restoration project for a period image.
