ANTIQUE VICTORIAN PAPER PUNCH MOTTO SAMPLER REMEMBER THY CREATOR Up for bids is this antique Victorian paper punch motto sampler which is embroidered needlework on punched paper. It is titled REMEMBER THY CREATOR and embroidered in a deep teal blue, flower and vines in red and olive green and a brown cross in the center. The antique carved wood cross frame has leaves on each corner and is in very good condition, as well as the glass. Wood backing and ready to hang. The glass is old, you can see the waves in the glass as well as bubbles. Age: Mid to late 19th century Size: Sampler - 19 1/2" x 8", does not go completely out to the frame, please see photos. Entire piece, including frame 25" x 12 5/8". Condition: Paper has signs age discoloration which is typical for it's age and a small rip on the the right middle edge of the punched paper, approximately 1" but it is a tight rip and barely noticeable except for the 1/4" edge, no fading to to colors, there is some darker areas, not very obvious but they are there on the bottom and they may be some water stains from amn old cleaning of the glass which does need a cleaning, glass is good as well as hanger and the frame is in excellent condition. The one piece wood board backing looks to be a replacement, although old nails, perhaps original. Guaranteed an old original motto sampler, not a reproduction.
