LARGE VICTORIAN SILVER PLATE PEACOCK BIRD PLATTER TRAY C1880. MY FINEST AND LARGEST EXAMPLE PART OF COLLECTION Welcome to Joanies House of Treasures. We are currently offering a large collection of Sterling & Silver Plate. As always all my auctions are offered with NO RESERVES and opening bids of only $8.50. Also this week ALL Silver items are being offered with FREE SHIPPING anywhere in North America ! We are still mastering the use of the photo tent, so please IGNORE any LARGE BLACK SPOTS as they are only reflection of my camera, I would never list an item with a large wear spot as these reflections can look like. I have been very lucky to have sold some incredible Silver plate trays in the past but I must say this is the finest Victorian Aesthetic movement tray I have sold in recent memory. The tray features incredible large handles with fully figured birds and baby birds, then the field of the tray features engraved patterns of Peacock Feathers and other figural Japanesque designs with a wide very detailed patterned border. The tray is absolutely huge measuring 33-1/2'' across the handles by 19-1/2'' or the actual serving area measures 21'' by 14-1/2, certainly large enough to hold pretty much any tea and coffee service or perfect for using on a large Ottoman as a coffee table as seen in the decorated magazines. The tray is marked on the back of the handle for the world American Firm of Meriden B.Company and would date to the 1870's possibly even designed for a large Fair or Expo of the period. The tray is in excellent physical condition for the age showing some wear to the white base metal as one would expect to see, though it displays absolutely beautifully and I am certain the new owner's friends will be more then a little jealous ! We are also listing a large and extensive tea and coffee service of the same period be sure to check it out as the tray and service would look magnificent together. This is part of a huge collection of Sterling & Silver Plate, so be sure to Click here to see A LOT more ! I am sure this would sell for a handsome price at any antique show or shop, but with my low opening bid and NO RESERVE someone could score a huge bargain !! Mark your calendars this auction ends the evening of Tuesday March 23rd The reflection of the camera can look like large black spots of wear, I would never list anything with such large black spots, I pick out only the best pieces to sell individually. I have been selling antiques and estate items full time for over 20 years and here on eBay for 5+ years. I take great pride in what I offer, but if for any reason you have a problem with your purchase, please email me and I will do my best to make you happy, I have 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK and would prefer to keep it that way. NO RESERVE SO SOMEONE COULD SCORE A HUGE BARGAIN Shipping: FREE SHIPPING TO THE USA TAKES 10-15 BUSINESS DAYS (2 to 3 WEEKS). Hopefully, not too many. But remember, the items you see are antiques. Hence, have an expected amount of wear from normal use. As such, returning an item because we failed to mention the tiniest bit of wear, or barely discernible flaw is not acceptable. Nor do we accept returns based on buyer's remorse, change of taste, or because a buyer did not realize how "small" four inches might be once in hand.
