MY FINEST VICTORIAN SILVER PLATE CLAW FOOT INKSTAND N/R AMAZING LARGE LION PAW FEET BY FAR THE FINEST I'VE SOLD Welcome to Joanies House of Treasures. Over the next couple of nights we will be auctioning one of the best collections of Silver Plate, Sheffield Plate and Sterling we have ever handled. As always, all my auctions are offered with NO RESERVES and opening bids of only $8.50. We are still mastering the use of the photo tent, so please IGNORE any LARGE BLACK SPOTS as they are only reflection of my camera, I would never list an item with a large wear spot as these reflections can look like. This is by far the finest and most impressive Inkstands I have ever sold !!! This truly incredible Victorian Silver Plate inkstand has amazing Large Lion paw feet, and an absolutely gorgeous wide detailed border. This beauty is quite large with pen wells on either side, so I believe it was meant to be used on a partners desk, the first of it's type I have ever sold. The overall measurements are approx 6'' tall to the top of the box which is attached and 14-1/2'' by 11'' across the top, the ink wells measures 3-1/2'' tall. The set is in amazing condition with almost no signs of use or wear, except on a few high spots, and one of the ink wells is missing the hinge while the other has the hinge but it is not attached, both very minor repairs. I particularly love the fact that the chamber candlestick is still intact complete with the original snuffer, I have been told these are almost always missing ! If you collect rare Victorian Silver Plate or Inkwells, this will be a crowning piece to any collection. Also if you are lucky enough to have a large Partner desk, this is a must have to display on it and I can't imagine you will find one much better any time soon, especially selling with no reserve !
