This is a relisting due to the fact that I listed this as an "oak "chair and it is walnut. My apology to all bidders/watchers . Before bidding please understand that I do not offer shipping on this item and this is for "pick up" only. I will assist in any way I can if you choose to do your own shipping arrangements. I am located near Galena, Illinois / Dubuque , Iowa by the Mississippi River (approximately 2 hours from Chicago , Illinois ,1 1/2 hours from Madison , Wisconsin and 1 1/2 hours from Iowa City,Iowa . )

Up for consideration is a very rare genuine Victorian era desk chair. Circa 1880's . All handcarved walnut that has developed a beautiful patina . Carved lion hand rests and floral carved side posts . It has a curved back . The chair swivels all around for quick maneuvering and also height adjustment (higher/lower) . Appears to have never been refinished and does not need to be. There are no foot casters although they were there at one time. On the underside bottom of the seat is a metal casting marked MI or IM (?)or ?. The base of the chair looks to me to be made of several different woods walnut ? mahogany ? The carvings are all matching. (Please see photos ). The tuffed leather upholstery is in an oxblood colored smooth matte leather .

Condition: (See photos) . The chair has been in storage for 20 years so it needs a good dusting. The original leather was replaced and is in very good condition with a few very minor small scuffs from years of storage .There may at one time have been some repairs done to the base legs (decades ago)but they are all firm and sturdy. I see nothing that needs repair ,refinishing,regluing. This is user ready . As with most swivel chairs there is some movement which is probably to prevent the user from tipping over. (turning, rocking etc.)

size: The chair swivels on a large metal/iron screw that adjusts the height of the chair from 33 1/2" to at least 37 1/2". The seat interior cushion is 22" w with the top of the seat to the top of the back rest 19". width 24" arm to arm.
