RARE ROSEVILLE R VASE DONATELLO ANTIQUE VICTORIAN PUTTI Picture(s) and Description:

Welcome to this week's Early Roseville Donatello Line, Green Brown and Cream Glazed, Art Pottery Vase... auction. Rare is a four letter word that I seldome use... but having never seen this shape close & personal.. or in the books, it surely must be considered uncommon. Even two old Roseville dealer/collector's I called, haven't seen this form.... (old, meaning years of combined experience expertise & knowledge... not as in "old" man.) Anyway.. condition wise this vase is "just about as good as it gets" for a pot 90 to 95 years old. There's a few tiny glaze rubs at the high points of the pot's widest part. You'll have to enlarge the pictures to see them on the canon's rim, next to the tree... and on a Putti's finger. See a pinprick on the top inside rim. What's a Putti you say? Well their the figures in the low- relief sculptural frieze, about the vase. Sometimes cupids at play... the "infants" here have adult preoccupations... with painting, sculpting, flag bearing & cannoneering... cartography and such. The last four pictures are nearer the natural indoor hye the winner will see. (the first five are illuminated by that late evening light.) Very nice early Roseville good luck.
