VICTORIAN CARVED MOTHER OF PEARL & SILVER 24pc FLATWARE ABSOLUTELY STUNNING SERVICE FOR 12 w CARVED MOP HANDLES Welcome to Joanies House of Treasures. We are currently offering a large collection of Sterling & Silver Plate. As always all my auctions are offered with NO RESERVES and opening bids of only $8.50. We are still mastering the use of the photo tent, so please IGNORE any LARGE BLACK SPOTS as they are only reflection of my camera, I would never list an item with a large wear spot as these reflections can look like. WOW what do I say ? I have sold some pretty fine Victorian Mother of Pearl handle flatware in my time, but this has to be one of the finest Fruit Serving sized set I have sold in a very long time. You just seldom see the services with carved handles ! The service is in excellent condition for being 100 years old, there are a few very small spots of plate loss on the a few forks and knives. There are no cracks to any of the handles, which are nice and tight and so beautifully carved ! The collars are unmarked, so we must presume they are all Silver Plate. I presume the service was designed for fruit, but I would use it for desserts, with the knives measuring 8" long and the forks measuring a touch over 6-1/2" long, all in their original fitted canteen, made of a Cherry stained wood and featuring a Brass cartouche on top, which has never been monogrammed ! Sorry I don't have the key so I can not comment on the state of the lock, and the case springs open just slightly also it shows some signs of age and shrinkage.
