Victorian Eastlake Stick Ball Wall Towel Rack Mirror Nr Picture(s) and Description:
This antique, carved, stick and ball hanging/wall mount towel rack with beveled mirror is very old and in excellent condition. I am not sure of the wood type, possibly walnut or mahogany, not oak. The mirror has some minor fogging and discoloration, mostly around the edge, but it presents and reflects very well. I tried to show in pics but it doesn't come out. No splits or separations in wood, only a couple minor dings, scratches, and a tiny crack on top at the far right ball, mentioned for accuracy. The bar is slightly lighter, probably from 100+ years of wet towels. I can see no glue (not repaired), and there are two countersunk nails attaching the rising sun crown which appear to be square. Obviously the mirror cover has been replaced, and the hangers are not original. One of the sticks (far right) is loose and moves slightly up and down, but otherwise everything is tight. It measures 21" wide, 13 1/2" tall, and rack bars stick out 5 1/2". The mirror is 7 1/2" tall and 9 1/2" wide. A very nice piece of American victorian furniture. I will not change my auction to 'buy it now' or close it early, so please don't ask. Please email for more pics or information.
