Victorian-era Ceramic Mantle Clock, 1881 Picture(s) and Description:
This is a beautiful Victorian era mantle clock, manufactured by the William L. Gilbert Clock Company of Winslo, Connecticut, numbered 418 and dated November 1, 1881. The clock body is ceramic porcelain with no flaking or chips, detailed with painted flowers on all sides and the front with gold (paint) on the leaf details. The ornate clock face is also in very good condition with no fading or chipped or broken parts. The glass door and hinge work very well, all original and complete. The clock works are also original, with a hand wound spring by key. Best of all, this clock works and keeps excellent time having been serviced by a professional clock repair expert (The House of Time in Gettysburg, PA) in 2008, and the chime gives a deep, booming chime.

Dimensions are 11 inches tall by 8 inches wide by 5 inches deep and comes with the original key to wind the clock. The body of the clock has been lightly cleaned with a mild detergent and water only, no chemical treatments. I am not a professional antique dealer or expert on Victorian clocks, but I believe this is a real gem and what I deem to be excellent condition, perfect for a fireplace mantle in someone's warm home.
