Wonderful Victorian Silverplate Egg Coddler Set Picture(s) and Description:

This auction features a wonderful Victorian silverplated egg coddler set with holders for four eggs. The domed lid has a wood finial and the base has elaborate figural faces in the Roman style leading to the three long legs. Put together, the piece is 8-1/4" tall with a diameter of 5-1/2." I have not cleaned this piece, but it appears in excellent condition with minimal tarnishing. I can't see any silver loss. If there was any, it would be on the legs only, but I can't tell.

The set has a full set of hallmarks, but my references for old silverplate are scarce. It is marked EP with a three letter initial mark, and a symbol. All pieces are marked with a straight line with a dot under it as well. I see no dents or dings. It's a novel piece you will love owning and showing off. When is the last time you coddled an egg?
